Flora & Feather - Enamel Pins & Bookcharms - Birds, Flowers, and Dragons!

Aaaah I am so happy to say - we have unlocked the entire set for the Cattails & Crested Grebe set!! I am hard at work on a sketch for the dragon to give you guys a preview of what it will look like - but you guys are definitely running ahead faster than I can draw lol - which is wonderful <3 I will catch up lol


And we are already about halfway to unlocking the first design in the new set - the pear blossom! I am really excited to see how far we can get with this new set!

Aaand - I may be a crazy lady - but I decided to add a bonus stretch goal at 20k!

If we hit 20k (which I really think we have a great shot at) I am going to add a second metal color option for each set!



With this series, it was so hard to make up my mind about what color metal I wanted them to have. I love the look of gold with all of these - and in general on pins. It's just so classy and classic! But with each set, I've also thought there was another color that could look pretty - like silver on the crested crane set - or metallic black on the quetzal set. 

So I decided, why choose?! lol If we hit 20k - each set will come in two color options for the metal. All the sets will come in gold and one other metal color that I think complements the colors of the set :) 

I don't normally share my works-in-progress as I am always so nervous about how messy and not pretty they look lol 

But I know a lot of people really love seeing them - seeing behind the scenes how the artist is designing and creating their work. 

And since each of these designs usually takes me about 8-10 hours to complete, I am pretty sure I cannot keep up with how fast they are unlocking with the finished design. So I thought this would be a fun way to show you guys what the pins and charms will look like by sharing these work-in-progress sketches as I am refining the design in my mind and on paper. 

This is my plan for the Crested Grebe! :) I think this set is going to be very elegant and classy. I love the shapes of the sharp and curvy grebes and how it is mirrored by the sharp points and graceful curves of the cattails.

Ok, back to sketching for me! 😅 But I hope you guys enjoy seeing these little peeks I usually keep hidden away lol 

We are down to the final day! JJust a little over 24 hours to go and we have unlocked so many new designs! There are now 5 (almost 6) complete sets unlocked!!



Goodness, we are flying past all these stretch goals!! After posting the Cattails last night - we've unlocked:

 
I'm painting these as fast as I can lol but you guys have left me in the dust and leaves lol. But no worries - I will keep working to catch up and have all these designs revealed as fast as I can. And of course - all the finished & polished designs will be up long before the pledge manager goes up. So you will be able to see everything in its final form before choosing your favorites for your rewards :)

And with everything going so fast - we only have one tiny stretch goal left for the Cattails & Grebes trio to be complete!

Aaaand maybe I'm a little crazy - but we're going so fast - so I decided to keep forging ahead and added the next painting to transform into pins and charms: Pear Blossom & Barn Owl!



I've been so amazed at how fast we've picked up speed the last few days, that I don't know what to expect with these - but I decided, as long as we are still moving forward, I will keep working on transforming more of the series 😅😅😅 I love a challenge!

Oh my goodness - I can't believe how fast these are going by!! We not only unlocked the new pin design - Cattails - but the matching bookcharms as well!
 

I've always loved cattails and was wishing for an excuse to paint them. One day I was talking with my friend Kristen about it who is super nice about helping me with files of great reference photos and helping me brainstorm on some of my projects - and she told me that cattails are actually flowers!! 

I couldn't believe it! How perfect! I knew instantly I was going to paint a Flora & Feather painting with cattails! 😊 And now these elegant and unconventional flowers get to be transformed into pins and charms as well!!
 
I'm really excited about this set - these pretty coppery browns and greys are really calling to me and I hope you guys love this set too! Up next we have the Crested Grebe ✨

Grebes are an extremely ancient species of bird dating back to the Late Cretaceous Epoch - about 80 million years ago! Grebes are highly specialized diving birds with no obvious close relatives - living or fossil. I love how sharp and delicate these birds look and the fact that they are from an era of dinosaurs makes them all that more incredible to me! I can't wait to finish the designs for the Grebe pin - and at the rate we are going - I better get back to work on it lol

We did it!! ✨ We unlocked the complete trio for the Scarlet Ibis & Poppy set! We unlocked both the pin and bookcharm yesterday for this swoopy critter who hides among the scarlet ibis and poppy lands!  And I finished the Scarlet Dragon design late last night 😅 

Out of all my Flora & Feather paintings, this dragon seems to be the hardest for people to find - and sometimes I think maybe it's not as fair as the others - as these dragons are hidden in the water, swimming close to the surface around the ibis feet, passing notice as fish. So for the pin, I wanted the scarlet dragon to show its aquatic nature. This also gave me a lot of fun shapes to play with to try and capture the gestural movement that the poppy and ibis designs have. I hope you guys love the newest addition to the set! 

With 2 days to go - I've added another painting to transform into pins and charms - the Crested Grebes & Cattails!! And - we are already halfway to unlocking the first design - the Cattails!!
